A very nice original Hesse Darmstadt Campaign Decoration 1840-1866. The ribbon does show wear of age since its over 100 years old but still would make an amazing display piece.
Instituted by Grand Duke Ludwig II on June 14, 1840, with that day being the birthday of his father Ludwig I it was to be awarded for participation in a military campaign in the service of Grand Ducal Hesse, either as a combatant or non-combatant
